UNICORE Scholarship

The UNICORE Forum e.V. was founded in December 1999 by developers, leading European HPC centres, and supporting hardware vendors as a non-profit association to foster the distribution and use of UNICORE, to publish and maintain the specifications, to coordinate further development, certify implementations and extensions, and to support workshops. After completing its mission UNICORE e.V. was dissolved in 2021. The members generously decided to donate the remaining liqudity to the DAAD-Stiftung in order to enable the UNICORE Scholarship.

Target group are primarily doctoral students.
The technical focus lies on: Supercomputing, High Performance Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine-based Learning, Big Data and Data Analytics from all application areas.

The call for the UNICORE Scholarship by the DAAD‑Stiftung (trustee: DAAD e.V.) for now is open exclusively for DAAD AInet fellows.

You are from a DAC-Country (origin) and would like to prepare for a long-term collaboration with labs or research institutions in Germany? The supports three-month stays at a host institution in Germany to kick-start long-term collaborations. The UNICORE Scholarship covers:

  • 1,200 euros monthly scholarship installment.
  • Health, accident, and personal liability insurance.
  • Travel flat: 1,500 Euro for distances from home country to host country for flights of up to 10 hours; 1,750 Euro for distances of flights 10 hours +
